Currently, I'm reading David Wroblewski's debut novel, "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle." Its a wonderfully written story about a deaf teenage boy, his friendship with his dogs and solving a family mystery. I would have finished reading it if I wasn't working so much!!

"Dead Until Dark" by Charlaine Harris
This book is the beginning of the Sookie Stackhouse series which was made into the HBO TV show "True Blood". The book is a fun quick read...if you like vampires. I chose this book because I watch the show, got hooked on the story and needed more. I definitely recommend the entire Sookie Stackhouse series.

The Shadow of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon is a magical tale of Barcelona in the 1950's. The main character is a young man named Daniel, who is investigating the fate of the author of a book he selected with his father on a trip to the Cemetery of Forgotten Books. It is part love story, part thriller, part fairy tale and part historical fiction. A great novel if you like to read to escape.

I recently purchased Ina Garten's barefoot contessa, back to basics.  It is a beautiful cookbook filled with easy to follow recipes (including photographs) that make cooking and enjoyable experience for everyday or for entertaining.  The roasted vegetable recipes are quick and delicious.  Enjoy!

1 recently enjoyed the historical fiction novel, In the Time of Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. I was inspired to read it after it was mentioned in The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. It brought me into the world of the rebellious Mirabel sisters under the reign of Trujillo in the Dominican Republic. These two books exposed me to a piece of Dominican history of which I had never been aware.
